Anna von Schewen
Anna graduated from the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm in 1995 with a degree in interior architecture and furniture design. In 1997 she opened her own design studio in Stockholm, Anna von Schewen Design and Architecture. Her commissions include architecture, interior and exhibition architecture as well as furniture and product design.
Among the companies for which Anna has designed furniture and products are Collection Pascale, Gärsnäs, IKEA. Lammhults, Pukeberg, Skruf and Svenskt Tenn.
She lectures and works as a guest professor at the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design and Beckmans School.
Anna has designed summer cottages as well as renovations and additions for private persons. In collaboration with Björn Dahlström, she designed the Museum of Architecture’s permanent exhibit as well as the museum’s large exhibition for the 100th anniversary of Bruno Mathsson.
She has designed the National Museum of Fine Arts exhibit on Concept Design during Design Year as well as specially designed furniture for the new furnishings of the National Librarian’s office in the Royal Library. In collaboration with Johan Celsing Architecture she designed the furnishings of the new offices of Swedish Travelling Exhibitions and the National Heritage Board on Gotland.
In 2003 Anna von Schewen received the prestigious Bruno Mathsson Award and has a number of times received the distinction of “Excellent Swedish Design” from Svensk Form.
In 2009 her chair “Twist” was voted Furniture of the Year by the magazine Sköna Hem.
Anna von Schewen’s work is represented in collections at the Stedelijk Museum of Modern Art in Amsterdam, Kunstindustrimuseet in Oslo, National Museum of Fine Arts in Stockholm and The Röhsska Museum of Fashion, Design and Decorative Arts in Gothenburg.
