Eva Schildt
Eva Schildt is convinced that people haven’t really changed much over time. The stage however is constantly changing. Both ideas characterize her design. She treats tradition with reverence while at the same time there is always a playful modernity – a gentle provocation in what she does. The functional shares a poetic longing for something more. Known archetypes are given new roles.
Eve Schildt’s design is often tied to nature and the organic. She has designed furniture, lamps, home accessories, jewelry and toys as textiles and parcels. The actual starting point for design work she formulates thus: “ Behind all design there is a person, an experience. Only when one is present does one really have something to say. If you want to properly engage someone then you must dare to show yourself without being afraid of seeming banal.”
Eva finished Beckman’s Design in 2001 and has worked as a freelance designer ever since. She has done commissions for Design House Stockholm, IKEA, Svenskt Tenn, Simplicitas, Playsam, Klong, Flora (Germany), Actus, Askul, MC Living (all in Japan).
Eva is represented at the National Museum of Fine Arts and The Röhsska Museum of Fashion, Design and Decorative Arts in Gothenburg. She has received a number of awards.
